We drove south through the desert toward the mountains which are the Los Angeles National Forest. We crossed over the pass on I-15/I-215, still heading south along the San Andreas Fault. The San Bernardino National Forest was now on our left and the outskirts of San Bernardino on our right. Not the greatest neighborhood, but probably affordable housing for southern California.
We are now into the Los Angeles freeway system I-10; 5 lanes for traffic in both directions, but traffic is very light right now. More hugh windmills on the right, driving through a mountain pass in the San Bernardino National Forest, Some were turning slowly, many were not moving at all.
We arrived at Palm Desert around 12:30 pm. The RV resort, Emerald Desert, is beautiful and covered with emerald green grass and many water features. We set up camp, ate lunch and went for a walk around the resort. Then we drove around the Palm Desert/Palm Springs area to check it out. There are hundreds of golf courses here (at least a lot of them), and almost as many resorts. There are also several upscale shopping areas, one of which we plan to check out tomorrow.
