The front came through as advertised. It started raining late last night and it was gone by morning. When it cleared, the skies were sunny but it was a lot cooler and windy.
Before the game we had breakfast at Lenny's, an iconic restaurant for Phillies fans just down the street from the ballpark. I had the "Redneck Benedict" again - two poached eggs, home fries, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. It was only about 3,000 calories and not the most healthy breakfast, but once a year may be O.K.
The game today, against Boston was challenging. The temperature never got above 69 degrees and the wind was at least 10-15 out of the north - right in our faces where we sit. We were bundled up with sweat shirts and jackets but it was still chilly, relatively speaking.
The game was a win for the Phillies, 2-1. Boston only brought a few regulars and they played against the Phillies regulars, so the win must be kept in perspective, although the Phillies pitching was pretty good today.
No baseball tomorrow. We are going to relax around the RV, get caught-up with a few things and meet Eileen and Linda for dinner tomorrow evening. They are going to see the Yankees and Phillies play in Tampa tomorrow and are staying in Clearwater tomorrow night.

Florida Spring Training Trip - Day 25
A great day for baseball today - the temperature hit 84, it was sunny with no wind. The Phillies played the Red Sox and both teams had their best pitchers pitching - Cliff Lee for the Phillies and John Lester for the Red Sox. As expected, it was a pitchers duel for the first 5 innings then the Red Sox scored 2 runs. The Phillies tied the game in the 8th inning, but that was all the scoring for the day and the game ended in a tie, 2-2 after 10 innings. At least they didn't lose - progress, I guess.
A highlight of the day was a pre-game appearance of the Budweiser Clydesdales from Busch Gardens in Tampa. And as usual the Phillie Phanatic continued to entertain the crowd as only it can do. There was also a record crowd at the park today - 11,200 fans, the largest since the park opened 11 years ago. There are only 8,500 seats in the stadium but plenty of room for berm seating and standing room.
Dinner was take-out pizza tonight. It was very good NY style pizza from another Italian restaurant in town. No baseball tomorrow so we are going to try and squeeze in another beach day. We only have two more no-baseball days before we leave next Thursday (tomorrow and Monday) and the weather looks better for tomorrow. Laundry is also on the agenda so it should be a busy vacation day.

Phillies Spring Training - Day 6
We went to the 4th game of our Spring Training Trip today. The Phillies played the Boston Red Sox, another good team in the American League. Roy Halladay, the top Phillies pitcher, was pitching against John Lester one of the best Red Sox pitchers.
It was another record crowd again, under clear and sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's
Our routine for each game has been to arrive at the game when the gates open at 10:30am, walk around, watch batting practice and have a leisurely ballpark breakfast/lunch before the lines get too long. Today was no exception. We watched the Phillies batting practice then had hot dogs and lemonade for an early lunch
It was interesting to see the players up close as well as see team officials, Phillies announcers, former players (John Kruk), and players from the Red Sox who knew each other spend time chatting around the batting cage. We also saw Chase Utley (a Phillies player who is injured and cannot run very well at the moment) take batting practice.
Our seats were in the same area as yesterday where fans from the visiting team are usually found. A lot of people, especially kids, congreate in this area prior to the game, asking for autographs. We have seen most players from all teams being very willing to autograph baseballs, hats, etc. and often throw balls into the stands and give them to kids prior to the game.

Pre-Game
As expected, the game was a pitchers duell; the Phillies didn't get a hit until the 6th inning (Roy Halladay got the first one). The Phillies had a rally later in the game and won 4-1. It was a nice way to end our last spring training game. Tomorrow is a beach day - we return home on Wednesday night
The Game
After resting back at the hotel, we decided to try a Greek restaurant in Clearwater. The food was excellent (we ate way too much) and the restaurant was very nice. All the waiters and waitresses, as well as many of the customers in the restaurant, appeared to be Greek. Apparently there is a substantial Greek community in the Tampa bay area possibly based on the local fishing and similarity to the climate in Greece.
