Jazz Fest Trip - Day 4

We got on the road about 8:00 AM what we thought was local time.  As we eventually discovered, Phoenix is in the Mountain Time Zone, but doesn't observe Daylight Savings Time.  So, it was actually 7:00 am local.  Nevertheless, we headed east with a short stop at the Tucson Camping World.  We are having a problem with the brake controller that controls the braking on the VW while being towed.  We were unable to resolve the problem and it looks like we will have to live with it until we get home.  It is not a safety problem and shouldn't be a big issue.

The road from Phoenix (I-10) east after Tucson towards Texas is pretty barren with a lot of open space.  There is the occasional truck stop and a few trailers here and there, but not much else.  The drive was windy again, but today is was mostly at our back out of the west and didn't make for difficult driving.

We arrived in Las Cruces, NM just west of El Paso around 3:00 pm local (now in the real MST zone).  We are staying at the Hacienda RV Resort, a really nice RV park where we stayed on our trip east last year.  After more fiddling around with the brake controller (problem not resolved). We had dinner in the RV and went to bed early.

Tomorrow is another travel day.  Our target destination is the Midland/Odessa, TX area but we might press on to Abeline if we feel like it (probably not).

  1. Don't forget to turn off your turn signal...I just received a report that it was on for the last two hours. :-)
