Jazz Fest Trip - Day 11

We said goodby to Paula & Dallas (they had a 4-hour drive back to Alexandria, AL), then we headed west and south to New Orleans, LA on Highway 59.  There were lots of piney woods covered in kudzu vines in every direction and a few muddy rivers to look at.  We crossed the state line into Louisiana and finally New Orleans was in view.

Tall buildings, residential homes which had been ruined 7 years ago by Katrina (still there, still ruined).  We finally found the French Quarter RV Park after conflicting directions from the park information sheet and the GPS British Babe.  It is basicly a fancy (expensive) parking lot with bricked sites and lots of grass, a pretty pool and hot tub, a laundry room and free ice surrounded by freeway overpasses, city streets and low commercial buildings.  It is only 2 1/2 blocks from the French Quarter, so it is very convenient.

We went out to dinner at Landry's in the French Quarter.  We have eaten there before and the food is very good.  We went to the Cafe du Monde for cafe au lait and bengiets, a really special treat, then back to the RV for the evening.
