We traveled over to Clearwater this morning for a late breakfast at Lenny's. There were actually more people there than we expected, and they were very busy. Despite the lack of the normal spring training crowd, it didn't appear their business has been impacted too badly.
Our waitress was one of the regulars we remembered from years past. New Jersey accent, smokers voice, slightly overweight and very nice. Calls you "hon" and keeps the coffee cups filled up. I asked her about being closed on Monday and Tuesday. She said it was because they can't get enough help. This seems to be a recurring theme everywhere we have been this trip. People either have other employment options or maybe just enjoy not working as they used to before COVID. The waitress said their pay and allowances are comparable and it is all a mystery to her why they can't get enough help.
One thing that did not change was the size of the menu and the quality and quantity of the food. I had the Redneck Benedict, an old favorite. It is two poached eggs on biscuits and sausage patties covered in gravy with a huge portion of home fries with grilled onions. Not exactly healthy eating, but good. Judy had a Garden Omelet with lots of veggies, the home fries and a dish of fresh fruit on the side.
After breakfast/lunch it was a stop at Walmart and the local Publix grocery store for a few things it was back to the RV. Didn't do much else for the day and had a light dinner.
The weather remains exceptional. Temperatures in the high 70s and sunny.
