It was raining this morning when we got on the road about 9:00 am. It continued to rain, sometimes hard, other times just a drizzle and partial clearing most of the way to Lafayette, LA. It was a short trip today so the rain was not much of a problem, just more trucks and Sunday drivers on I-10. There were also a few Daytona 500 "wanna bees" out today, perhaps celebrating the start of the NASCAR season.
It was partly cloudy when we arrived at our stop for tonight, The Bayou Wilderness RV Resort around 12:30 pm. We have stayed here several times in the past. It is a nice park, quiet and close to our favorite Cajun restaurant Prejean's.
The rain caught up with us and it turned cool later in the afternoon as we relaxed in the RV and watched the Daytona 500 race. It was actually a pretty exciting race and a change from something we probably wouldn't have done at home.
We had another great dinner at Prejean's. It is hard to beat authentic craw fish etoufee, craw fish pie, gumbo and hush puppies with live Cajun music.
We picked up a few groceries on the way back to the RV and it was early to bed.
We continue east tomorrow to the Pensacola, FL area (Milton, FL) for two nights.
