A big difference today.
It was clear and cool in the morning and the wind was not very strong. We got to see the arch in the morning sunrise then worked our way north through St. Louis then west on I-70 towards Kansas City. It was a little too long of a drive for us to go all the way to Omaha today, so we stopped about 35 miles east of Kansas City in Odessa, MO. Nothing fancy RV park but easy-on-easy-off I-70 for an overnight stay.
Our original plan after Omaha was straight west on I-80W to home. Right now, however the weather doesn't look good for RV travel going that way, at least for us. It is still winter in the Rockies with snow, high cross winds and below freezing overnight temperatures. For example, a planned stop at an RV park in Rawlins, WY says there will not be any water hookups at the RV park until the overnight temperature is above freezing for 10 straight days. Their overnight temperature forecast is in the mid 20's for at least the week after we were scheduled to arrive. Maybe mid-May the way things are going this spring. Likewise, the wind is forecast to be sustained in the 25-35 mph range from the south - a crosswind all the way from Omaha into Utah.
We will take a look at it all while in Omaha and probably head south from there. Depending on weather and alternative routes, our ETA for home may be extended.
Safety first.
